WHO WE ARE

The Administration and Board of Trustees of Occidental College have made it repeatedly clear that they remain committed to treating students and workers as disposable in an attempt to retain their public image and the status quo. The status quo and their hope to be image, however, is antithetical to the mission of the college. Thus, we believe that it is time to move beyond the status quo and into a future where Oxy, as an institution, is committed to fostering and outwardly employing change. Change toward a more just future. 

 

We believe that Oxy should commit to the colleges mission and thus treat students and workers with dignity and respect as a part of that change. Students and workers deserve to have a school that meets the ethical challenge of the day and does not muzzle them for pushing the college to meet said challenge. Students deserve a school that practices what it preaches in the classroom and puts out to the world. Students deserve a school that does not falter on its foundation when met with tough challenges, questions, and experiences both in and out of the workplace.
