Work Study Priority
Students on work study will have priority in job acquisition on campus. In the Fall applications will be two weeks earlier than non-work study and one week early in the Spring. Students on work study will also have priority in applications.
Wages
Student works in the bargaining unit will make 1.5% above Los Angeles minimum wage. At the Green Bean, baristas in their first year of work will make the baseline 1.5% increase and in each subsequent year of work will make a $0.25 increase. This increase does not apply to Resident Advisors (RA position remains the same).
Earnings Cap
The earnings cap is no longer in effect for student worker. The weekly hours cap has been raised to 29 hours.
Union Representation
Within disciplinary meetings relating to work, student workers now have the right to Union Representation during said meetings. Either from a shop steward or union representative. Grievances may also be filed with the union over an breaches of contract.
Non-Union Workers
Managers at the Green Bean and ASOC Student government positions (Senate, Diversity and Equity Board, Sustainability Fund, Honor Board, and Executive Committee) are no longer within the bargaining unit of the union.
Joint Labor Management Committee (JLM)
Student workers and the college have set up a working committee to discuss student worker and student issues with the college. The committee can make non-binding recommendations to the college.
Reapplication
Students must reapply every semester for work. (This is the same as before).
No Strike/No Lockout
Students will not be locked out of the workplace during the length of the agreement and may not go on strike during the length of the agreement.
